Manager Payroll – Workday

The primary purpose of this role is to manage an in-house team of associates with primary responsibility for processing on cycle and off cycle payrolls and the processes associated with such payroll activities.

Responsibilities of Payroll Manager:

  • Audit and Enter time cards
  • Process, audit and print checks
  • Enter & process monthly auto allowances
  • Transfer direct deposit (deadline is Wednesday at 4:00)
  • Sort and hand out checks to different divisions
  • Track hours and deductions on health census and various spreadsheets
  • Transfer funds to payroll accounts
  • Transmit 401K spreadsheet and funds to Transamerica
  • Weekly, quarterly and yearly payroll taxes
  • Set up Prevailing wage rates
  • Run prevailing wage reports and download LCP tracker (weekly)
  • Assist with Prevailing wage issues (proof of payment, proof of health insurance)
  • Submit apprentice health contributions and training contributions to Polycomp (monthly)
  • Ensure proper hours are maintained, new employee enrollments, terminated employees.  Open enrollment effective June 1st.
  • Audit and process invoices for payment (monthly), including Health, Dental, Life Insurance, Flex, Aflac
  • Submit terminated employee information to 3rd party administrator – Discovery Benefits
  • Process new employees/Process terminated employees
  • Unemployment issues including audits and verification of information
  • Maintain employee files
  • Maintain driver’s list, collect and maintain proof of employee’s personal auto insurance
  • Maintain vacation calendar, including tracking vacation and sick time taken
  • Background checks (as needed)
  • Organize harassment class for management positions (every two years, next one due May 2015)
  • Assign harassment training for new management employees
  • Call in and process workers’ comp claims (with assistance from Smart Safety)
  • Attend quarterly workers’ comp review via conference call
  • Maintain OSHA log
  • Employment verification
  • Provide information for various audits
  • Send all eligible employees notification of open enrollment for 401K (Quarterly)
  • Close year and process and transmit W-2’s

Qualifications of Payroll Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related
  • 5yrs experience as Payroll Manager with a commercial construction company
  • Sage 300 or Timberline experience
  • Experience in payroll processing payroll of up to 200 employees
  • Basic HR functions knowledge
